StudioAmmons worked with the Waterford Foundation and Loudoun County on the development of a comprehensive historic structures report for the Waterford Mil. Our team included Derek Ogden, the foremost expert on milling and mill engineering in the U.S., to analyze the history and evolution of what was originally an Oliver Evans mill through its transformation into a late 19th c roller mill. A phased renovation plan was developed and an interpretive plan designed for future exhibits. The Foundation does not intend to operate the mill but wishes to be able to stabilize the building while telling its story as a key part of the development of the village of Waterford.
