We are strategists:    Understanding that every project is part of the larger community landscape, it is often the public participation process that helps a plan evolve, reflecting the shared vision of the people who live and work in a given area. Presenting preliminary concepts and designs in a public forum helps to open lines of communication, gather vital input and provide an opportunity to discuss project goals in terms of the overall vision and larger community impact. An active participant in the revitalization of our own community, StudioAmmons has been involved in several planning and design initiatives with extensive community participation. Principal Terry Ammons has worked closely with the City of Petersburg, local residents and business owners to spearhead the Regional Urban Design Assistance Team (R/UDAT). The planning process examined the downtown area in terms of land use, economic and planning issues to create a master development plan for its future. In addition, Ammons and his team are currently working on the Battersea Rising: Quality of Life Plan, engaging with residents of this historic urban neighborhood to create a workable plan for physical improvements tied closely to their needs.

We promote collaboration and community involvement:   Our experience leading public and collaborative design processes informs our work from the outset. At StudioAmmons the entire office conducts internal charrettes for every project. We make sure we bring all disciplines, even our administrative staff, to the table to assess varying points of view at key moments in the design process.
