Terry Ammons led a national AIA design team in the development of a community plan to revitalize Bozeman’s Northeast Neighborhood with a new arts and culture district, retail core, and parks and recreation plan. The process brought out over 400 citizens at the community design meetings and is now moving forward in the hands of their local steering committee. The citizens told us that they wanted to find a way to “keep Northeast funky” and retain its character and scale in the midst of these new economic development trends. Our plan was centered around creating an art centered community with an artist’s mews and new commercial corridor as its core. The concept focuses on an approach to integrating art installations and “sidewalk rooms” into the revitalization of the historic core of the neighborhood exposing the story of the founding of Bozeman.
